About the Project
The Hopewell Dog Park project was approved by Hopewell Township in the summer of 2017 followed by the final approvals by the Boy Scouts of America in October.
I met with CEC Consulting in December, and they designed two fantastic designs for the dog park, and just after Christmas, we started fundraising.
The dog park will be built on Laird Drive between Kane Road and the Hopewell Memorial Junior High in Aliquippa, PA. For those familiar with the area, this park will be located near the overflow parking across from the main park entrance.
The dog park will be separated into two different areas allowing large dogs to be separated from smaller and elderly dogs. The park will have shade, benches, waste receptacles, and agility equipment created by two Cadette Girl Scouts in Troop 10165.
Construction will start as soon as the funds are raised. It could cost as much as $24,500 just to get water to the site if all the approvals can be secured. This project is expected to cost a minimum of $42,000.
As of July 31, 2019, over $29,000 has been raised. The dog park will be built with the funds available. We will not be able to have well or city water at the site but are looking at alternatives. We will not be able to have the country's first K9 Biodigester.
